Apothic Red is a masterful blend with intriguing intensity and luscious texture. Zinfandel leads the blend with generous notes of deep dark fruit and faint hints of spice, while Syrah brings notes of blueberry compote and hints of boysenberry. Merlot contributes bold structure and rich characteristics of black cherry and plum. Cabernet Sauvignon delivers decadent layers of blackberry and black currant. Once upon a time, men traveled thousands of miles over land and sea for the Orient’s most prized treasure: silk. Its delicate, exotic texture was so desirable, silk literally changed the world. Fortunately, our winemakers didn’t have to travel far in their quest for silk; instead, they found the treasure they sought in marine-influenced vineyards in California’s Central Coast, North Coast and Lodi-Delta appellations: Pinot Noir with seamless cherry flavors, Malbec with velvety softness and Petite Sirah with alluring depth. Dreaming of liquid silk, they assembled their blend, and used unique fermentation methods to craft a delicately textured, ultra-smooth wine with supple tannins. Grapes were cold soaked, then gently pressed to silky perfection. To further illuminate the wine’s unique texture and flavors, the blend was enhanced with a hint of sweet, spicy French and American oak. The result? Our winemakers are definitely not afraid of the dark. For this special wine, they wanted to create a truly uninhibited blend— something deeper, darker, and bolder than ever before. In true Ménage à Trois style, they decided that ‘more is more,’ and crafted a blend of not three—but four—grapes! Merlot adds a plush, velvety texture, Cabernet Sauvignon offers elegance and power, Petite Sirah lends inky intensity and Petit Verdot imparts a deep violet color and concentrated fruit. To round out the flavors the wine is aged on French and American oak. The result is a wine that leaves an indelible impression. It’s mysterious and dark, soft and sensual—just like Midnight.
Menage A Trois Red (750 Ml)
Ménage à Trois Red brings together three strange bedfellows: Zinfandel, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. To add complexity and retain character, each variety was fermented separately, then blended together prior to bottling. On top we’ve got Zinfandel, a saucy tease that brings blackberry and raspberry jam to the relationship. Merlot, with its generous mouth feel and red fruits, fits perfectly in the middle. The rich flavors and firm tannins of Cabernet Sauvignon make it the ideal candidate for the bottom layer of the trio.

In true Ménage style, we love nothing better than a threesome, so we selected premium fruit grown in three of California’s finest wine growing regions known for producing grapes with exceptionally rich flavors and alluring aromas: Lodi/Delta, Monterey, and the North Coast. Our winemakers add just a touch of Merlot to the Cabernet Sauvignon, giving the wine added depth and complexity. The wine is then infused with 40% French oak, which imparts a lavish mouthfeel and irresistibly sultry hints of vanilla spice. Every sip is proof that Decadence is liquid deliciousness.
