Our friends at Might Peace Coffee have been hard at work to help bring us this very special delivery of coffee that we will be featuring in the cafes for the next month or tow. Say hello to the Might Peace Congo Umoja. It is the first coffee we have brought in from the South Kivu region in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The cooperative has been working on increasing the quality of the coffee over the last 10 year, in order to help improve the living conditions of its members. The Umoja is truly one of the most unique coffees we have had an honor of roasting. We treated it very delicately in the roaster to highlight the intrinsic acidity while developing enough body to create a substantial, drinkable cup. Once in the cup, the Umoja offers up an explosion of flavors, featuring a tight, bright acidity and clean tropical overtones. Churchills 2013 Lbv

Alluring, with a singed juniper note out front, followed by broad and fleshy waves of fig, boysenberry, plum and blackberry compote. Tommasso Bussola Valpolicella Ripasso

2013 - This single vineyard Ripasso is fermented with selected yeast for ten days, then refermented on the skins of Amarone for another ten days, this compact and concentrated red wine was aged for 17 months in big oak barrels. Rich and spicy aromas, with hints of red berries, cherries, black pepper and balsamic herbs lead to a juicy and smooth palate. Intense and well structured, with a long finish.

Heinrich Spindler Organic Riesling Trocken

2015 - Organic/Biodynamic. The grapes for this wine are sourced from Spindler’s vineyard holdings in Ruppertsberg, Freidelsheim and Niederkirchen; it was fermented in stainless steel until dry with both ambient and cultured yeasts. It is a pure expression of Pfalz exotics: passion fruit, peach, almond blossom. Dry, biodynamic, fruity, aromatic, un-oaked, racy. Chicken, duck, fish, cheese.

Niepoort 10yr Tawny

Golden in color, exhibiting a complex aroma of dried fruits dominated by orange peel and dried figs, as well as walnuts and roasted almonds. A floral touch completes the aroma. On the palate it is very fine and balanced, with a vibrant acidity balancing its sweet character, interacting with the fortifying spirit to perfection and giving the wine a superb structure.

2014 - Grand Cuvee. This selection is sourced from the vineyards of Champ de Cour and Clos du Carquelin where vines are very densely planted in soils of granite and quartz. Vines here average 50 years old. Very elegant, beautiful aromatics of violet, cherry blossom, black raspberry fruits and spice.

Domaine Begude Etoile Chardonnay

2014 - Organic. Here is a incredible effort coming from the Languedoc region of France. It's smells like a baby Meursault style with creme brulee, pain grille notes followed by baked fall apple/pear fruits with rich tropical notes. Great texture, full bodied chardonnay that fills the palate yet perfectly balanced. An over-achiever and great value.--Finn

Lustau East India Solera

Made from 2/3 Oloroso and 1/3 Pedro Ximénez aged for 9 years then put back into barrel. A deep, thick, coffee coloured wine. Rich raisin scents with just the faintest hint of beef tea.

Chateau La Tour De By Medoc

2015 - This is dominant in Cabernet in this Bordeaux blend. Rich, thick aromas of blackberry fruits, black currant, cassis, leather, eucalyptus and peppercorns. The palate shines with the quality of the 2015 vintage with richness and density of the black fruits swaying into textural, dry chewy tannins.--Finn

Rustenberg John X Merriman

2013 - Traditional Bordeaux blend of Merlot, Cabernet, Cab Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. A powerful wine that rewards aging. 2011 - Proprietors Jonathan and Susan Pey have produced a beautiful 2012 Merlot from Rutherford. The color is nearly black and the wine is deep and full-bodied with lots of chocolaty berry fruit. 2016 - The 2016 Shiraz shows textbook black pepper spice and violets on the nose, with hints of Cape fynbos and black currant. The intense fruit flavors follow on the palate with firm tannin and fresh acidity that promises great ageing potential.

2013 - Quentin Tarantino inspired. An alluring fragrance of bright flor al notes, violet juxtaposed with intriguing mountain characteristics. Domaine L'ostal Cazes Minervois

2014 - This medium to full-bodied, upfront and charming effort has lots of black raspberry, currants and cassis in its balanced, mouth filling and fruit forward style. I don’t think it will make old bones, but it’s certainly a solid drink to enjoy over the coming 5-6 years.

Lucas & Lewellen Pinot Noir

Mosse Majic Of Ju Ju Anjou Sec

2015 - Organic. This is a very complex, mineral driven with a big creamy backbone. Aromas of pear, honeysuckle, melon, peach, quince with a toasty, creamy, nutty backdrop. Very precise palate that needs to be fleshed out with time before serving, about an hour or so.

Gobelsburg Gruner Veltliner Langenlois

2015 - It contains young-vines juice from the sites Redling, Thal, Lamm (!), Renner and Grub. It shows superb focus in an herbal direction; hyssop and spearmint, leading into a spicy finish that leaves a tingle behind. Mid-palate is tense and vigorous, with “physio” sweetness. – Terry Thiese

2016 - This is a very cool new wine from Einaudi, this vintage is made exclusively from Barolo vineyards. This wine is a lively and elegant red, medium-bodied with buoyant red berry fruit and subtle spices; it has loads of charm, and is a perfect companion to a variety of dishes and delightful to enjoy on its own.

Colombera & Garella Brameterra

2015 - Aromas of underbrush, rose petal, flint and dark spice waft out of the glass. The structured elegant palate offers red-cherry, raspberry, clove and star anise flavors set against fresh acidity and a firm backbone of refined tannins. Give this time to let the nervous energy calm down and you'll be rewarded with even more complexity.

Owen Roe Sharecropper Chardonnay

2015 - The lower elevation vines produce tropical and citrus characteristics such as pineapple, grapefruit and lemon. The upper vines have more intense acidities; these vines struggle to survive and lend minerality to the final blend. 35% new french oak and 40% malolactic fermentation contribute rich, unctuous, and complex flavors such as butterscotch, crème brûlée, marshmallow, and vanilla bean.

Domaine Richard Rottiers Moulin A Vent

2015 - Move over rover, a new sheriff moved into Beaujolais! This is hands down a power-house Moulin a Vent with big black cherry, red currant, lavender, plum aromas. This wine really shines on the palate full of intense red berry fruits, substantial yet silky tannins. Truly a lovely wine.--Finn

Sonoma Loeb Sangiacomo Chardonnay

2015 - From its gorgeous nose of guava, lychee, nectarine and lemon custard, to its rich and silky mouthfeel, this is a vibrant and beautifully proportioned wine. On the palate, lively flavors of apricot, Meyer lemon and green apple are underscored by sweet and savory notes of melted butter and fresh baked pie crust, as well as hints of vanilla and clove.

Muga Rioja Reserva

2013 - Aromas of ripe fruit are overtaken by a red-berried fruit component, accompanied, at almost the same level, by a wide spectrum of white blossom. It has a fresh mouth-feel, almost giving the impression of having mentholated nuances, with a presence of fruit liqueur. It can seem quite a strange combination. Spicy and leaves new hints of liqueur fruit at a second level, but this time much more complex in character.

Zorzal Eggo Cabernet Franc

2014 - Incredibly perfumed for a Cabernet Franc, as the nose is very floral and made me think of a Malbec rather than a Cabernet Franc. The spiciness of all these Eggo wines comes from the grapes and the fermentation and aging in cement, as none of the wines see any oak. And I tell you one thing, you do not miss the oak or the complexity or anything, it's all here. This is the first year for this vertical, fresh, tremendous Cabernet Franc. Sohm & Kracher Lion Gruner Veltliner

2017 - This wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation, as do all the wines. It is the only wine in the line-up that fully ferments in stainless steel where it spends one year on its fine lees. It is a crisp, fresh, aperitif-style grüner that is salty and easy to drink. Aromatic, floral, crisp, dry, mineraly, unoaked. Fish, shellfish, cheeses, chicken.

Marchesi Di Gresy Sauvignon Blanc

2018 - A deep, intense style of Sauvignon Blanc displaying ripe aromas of peach, wild flower, pear, citrus with a linear mineral note. Very aromatic mouthfeel with an abundance of citrusy flavors, green herbs and bright, flavorful, dry finish.--Finn

Clos Sainte-anne Bordeaux

2012 - 90% Merlot, 10% Cab Franc. The 2012 exhibits a more modern nose of red currants, plum, vanilla extract and earth. Nice weight, texture to the palate, dry, velvety tannins and smooth finish.--Finn

Lustau Manz Papirusa

Aroma of sea breeze or a salty tang and a green almond nuttiness. In the palate the wine is very dry, with light, nutty, beefy, salty flavours. The finish is lifted and hot and nuttiness lingers.

2013 - Merryvale continues to create classic Napa reds that you want in your glass. Deep rich blackberry, red plum, black raspberry fruits infused with vanilla spice and cocoa nib. Red berry fruits blossom on the palate with pleasant, dry tannins and spiced finish.

Buehler Zinfandel

2013 - Intense black purple color in the glass that is inky in the glass. Ripe, deep black raspberry, strawberry, dark plum with creamy oak wood spice. Dry, spicy, earthy wine with substantial deep dark tannins, with great structure. The wine demands 15-20min air to open up to its potential.

El Esteco "don David" Reserve Torrontes

2019 - Argentina’s native white varietal. Intense perfumed aromas of tropical fruits, spring flowers and notes of roses. This is an elegant and complex wine with a rich, mellow, fruity taste and clean, crisp finish.

Churchills 20yr Tawny Port 500ml

This is made from traditional Port grapes Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Cao. Bright cherry, toffee color, with a bouquet of lavendar and honey. On the palate, notes of marzipan with excellent balance of fruit and natural acidity.

Blackwater Noir Syrah

2012 - Bright red. There is uncanny energy in a light package here. Very fresh with red licorice, mint, morello cherries and an earthiness on the nose. The palate is densely packed but not heavy. Flavors of cranberry, cracked pepper and graphite-like tannins present a wine that has a character flaw as it wants so desperately to be Rhône but is deeply rooted in Swartland.

Bedrock Pagani Ranch Heritage

2015 - The 2015 Pagani Heritage is the most overt and flamboyant of the Sonoma Valley wines. Inky red fruit, wild flowers, violet, mint and plum infuse this super-concentrated, dense Zinfandel-based wine.--95pts Vinous

Sinskey Vin Gris Of Pinot Noir

2017 - An aromatic bouquet of spring flowers, summer gardens and fall orchards where white strawberry, green apple, peach and guava meet higher tones of orange blossom, lemon verbena and lilac. The first sip leads with a tang of white pineapple and candied peach before giving way to a juicy, bursting mid-palate loaded with soft citrus notes like kaffir lime and blood orange. Grapefruit zest, kumquat and yellow rose drive home a clean, refreshing finish.

Veleta Cabernet Sauvignon

2014 - Fairly big nose on such a great value Cab. Full, ripe aromas of black plum, cassis, blackberry fruits. Mouth feel is juicy, very friendly, light dry tannins. Very good balance and structure makes this a versatile wine for pairing with food yet can stand on its own.--Finn

2012 - Black cherry, currant and floral notes are expressive and alluring, balanced by loamy earth, tobacco and mineral elements that add a savory quality. Pierre-marie Chermette Cassis

Produced exclusively from Noir de Bourgogne blackcurrants. The texture is particularly creamy; you can see that when you tip the bottle then put it back upright, the crème sticks to the sides. This is a sign of quality and balance. The colour is dark and tends towards purple. Very strong, long-lasting blackcurrant aromas. The crème is very concentrated, meaning you can serve very small quantities without losing any flavours. When served straight, the texture is creamy.

Mollydooker Shiraz "boxer"

2016 - Aromas of blackberry, plum, licorice all-sorts, confectionery and black pepper. The palate comes out punching delivering great richness and concentration. Opulent mouth filling flavors of blackberry, licorice and dark plum followed by some confectionery and a very peppery back palate.

Nervi Gattinara

2013 - A rich red, exuding licorice, cherry, strawberry, floral and spice flavors, followed by iron and tobacco notes. Intense and harmonious, with excellent grip and a lingering aftertaste. Nv Aubry Fils Brut

Bittersweet perfume suggestive of gentian and iris mingles with intimations of fresh lime and sea breeze that in turn manifest themselves on a seductively silken palate in both juicy, vivacious exuberance and mouthwatering saliva-inducement. 2007 - On the aroma dark fruits are wonderfully contrasted with slightly green nuances and great finesse. On the palate, medium sweet, which combines well, with a very tight structure. The taste exhibits a firm tannins and length but with great finesse in evidence.

Raised in stainless steel tanks gives this wine more lift, freshness, elegance on the palate, focusing the red berry fruits, floral notes and 10pt landing on the finish. The winery claims that this is their number one glass pour wine in restaurants. Francios Et Julien Pinon Petillant Naturel Brut

2020 - 50% Côt (Malbec)/50% Grolleau. This sparkling méthode ancestrale rosé is Pinon's only non-Chenin wine, made from black grapes planted by François Pinon's father in order to supply their workers with red wine. There is only 1 hectare, so production is small. Two weeks into its fermentation with natural yeasts in vat, the wine is bottled and finshes in about two more weeks. The bottles are disgorged in April after the vintage and receive no dosage.
