Don Jose Tequilas Restaurant
Don Jose Tequilas originally began at 311 Plain Street in Providence. The menu featured distinctive dishes from all over Mexico, such as mole poblano, wood-grilled pork tacos, ceviche, camarones a la tequila, chiles rellenos, and of course Carnitas Don Jose (which is a roasted pork cooked with lard, beer, chicken base, oranges, and evaporated milk in a cooper container). Carnitas are a very traditional dish in Michoacan. After a few years at this location, and with a long list of well-established customers, Jaime and Jose decided to move the restaurant to historic Federal Hill. The menu has been largely maintained, with new dishes contributed by chefs Raquel Diaz (Cochinita Pibil and Brazo de Reina) of Merida Yucatan, and MarΓa Hernandez (pescado al tomatillo, huachinango, enchiladas veracruzanas) of Veracruz. You can complement your dining experience with a great selection of fine tequilas and margaritas sangrΓas. They also have a fine selection of desserts.
