Amster's Prospect Tavern Amster’s Prospect Tavern is named for Sol Amster, the founder of the Tavern and grandfather of the current owner. The Amster building was built in 1926 and operated as a grocery store until Prohibition was repealed in 1933. It is one of the oldest establishments in Bergen County and the greater New Jersey area. Referred to by many different names in the community, “Amster’sâ€, “Sadie’sâ€, “Norm’sâ€, or just “The Tavernâ€, is a place where patrons always feel at home.
